CLAIM PROCESS

Vehicle crashes are commonplace. Many are minor but others can have fatal consequences. They are emotionally shocking at the time for both the driver and passengers. Because they are unintended, they often are a surprise event which adds to the trauma of crash victims.

While modern cars have sensors to mitigate the likelihood of an accident, crashes do occur. To help lessen the stress following an accident, these steps will be helpful. If your vehicle has been in an accident and you are insured:

  • 1 Contact your insurer and provide them with your policy number (find it on your latest invoice).
  • 2 Do this by phone or online. There will be some form filling so online is often the best.
  • 3 Follow the online sequence where you will be asked to provide such specifics as:
    Details of what happened,
    Details of the loss incurred (damage),
    And details about the person making the claim.
  • 4 If the claim is accepted the Insurer will provide you with a claim number.
  • 5 Talk to the repairer of your choice and advise them the claim number.
  • 6 The repairer will liaise with you regarding the next steps, which are very straight forward.
  • 7 Remember, the Insurer is only approving the damaged caused by the accident and noted in the claim. Do not expect the repairer to fix things unrelated to the accident. If you want additional work done, that is a matter for you and us to agree on.
